Victoria Watkins, Head of HR at Islands Insurance Group, explains what the firm hopes to learn from the awards and what a good workplace culture means to them...

What motivated you to take part in the Jersey’s Best Workplace initiative?

At Islands Insurance Group, we recognise the importance of nurturing a positive workplace culture that prioritises the well-being and engagement of employees. By participating in this initiative, we can help build a shared vision of an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered.

This initiative aligns with our values and aspirations for both personal and professional growth.

What three words would you describe as the key tenets of a positive company culture and why?

Collaboration, Respect, Growth.

Together, these create a supportive atmosphere that drives engagement and productivity.

Why do you believe fostering a great workplace culture is essential in attracting and retaining top talent in Jersey?

We believe it fosters a setting where employees feel appreciated, involved, and inspired. A strong culture boosts job satisfaction, encourages teamwork, and builds loyalty, increasing the likelihood that top talent will want to join and remain with the Group and the business performs to it’s potential. An important focus of ours!

What sort of insights are you most eager to gain from taking part in Jersey’s Best Workplace?

We are eager to gain insights into best practices for enhancing the workplace culture and what better way than to hear it directly from your employees? Insights into what our employees truly value in the workplace can help us refine our own practices.

Overall, we are looking forward to discovering actionable insights that can drive meaningful change across the Group.

How do you see the results of this initiative shaping your internal practices or influencing your future strategies?

It will provide valuable insights from our employees on what works and what doesn’t allowing for more data-driven decision-making. Ultimately, the results can guide future initiatives, ensuring they are better aligned with the Groups goals.

Top-performing companies will be highlighted in a special Jersey’s Best Workplace publication distributed in print and online through the Jersey Evening Post and Bailiwick Express. Winners will be honoured at a special awards ceremony in March 2025.

In addition to the survey results, compensation and potential to be crowned 'Jersey’s Best Workplace', entrants will receive an All Island Media advertising credit and an annual subscription to the digital edition of the Jersey Evening Post.
