Can you give us a brief overview of your business?
Islands Insurance Group is a leading insurance provider based in the Channel Islands. We operate across Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney offering a wide range of personal and commercial insurance products. We are known for our customer-focused approach, providing tailored coverage solutions and expert advice to meet the diverse needs of local individuals and businesses.
What have you learnt from entering Jersey’s Best Workplace?
We don’t always get things perfect, but we are always keen to learn and improve in areas where our staff feel need improvement. We got involved in Jersey’s Best Workplace initiative as this was another tool for us to solicit feedback from our employees. Our results were insightful, and we will be driving change forward in order to see improvement in next years’ survey. We will do this as an organisation and include our staff to help make changes for the better.
Why is it so important to you?
Our employees are the key drivers of our success. Ensuring we are a great place to work means we have happy employees. Happy employees deliver better results for our customers. Our employees are our key asset, so it is important that they have a voice and feel empowered to come to work and be the best version of themselves every day. Insights from the survey will allow us to focus on what needs improvement whilst still driving forward all the things we do well.
How will you build on the feedback gained to shape your business?
It is important not to lose sight of the results. Change doesn’t happen overnight, and we will need our staff on the journey with us to ensure any enhancements are embedded and driven forward effectively. We will be sharing the results with our leadership teams and our Employee Engagement Forum to consider the main areas for improvement and/or development. We believe having a working group of people from different areas of the business continues to demonstrate that our staff have a voice, and their input helps make decisions and introduce changes across the group.
