Why did you decide to enter Jersey’s Best Workplace? 


We’re incredibly proud of the team and culture we’ve built at Indigo Dental, so it was an opportunity to celebrate our staff and benchmark ourselves against other local businesses. Winning in two categories is a fantastic way to showcase what makes our practice special. 

 

What was the most valuable thing you learnt from the experience? 


How much our staff truly appreciate our efforts to create a supportive and positive workplace. The process gave us deeper insight into what matters most to them, whether it’s feeling valued, having a healthy work-life balance or knowing their voices are heard. It reinforced that our focus on people, not just processes, is the heartbeat of our success. 

 

How do you prioritise wellbeing in your business? 


We foster an environment where everyone feels supported. This includes open communication, regular check-ins with our team, flexible scheduling, mental-health resources, like a mental-health first aider, and a comfortable, stress-free workspace. In a dental practice, where patient care is demanding, our team thrives and delivers their best when they feel looked after themselves. 

 

Why is this so important to you? 


Our staff are the backbone of our practice. Happy, healthy team members mean better care for our patients and a stronger sense of community within our workplace. As a local business, we want to set an example and show that wellbeing isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a core value that drives everything we do. 

 

How has this shaped your business? 


We’ve created a tight-knit, motivated team that genuinely enjoys coming to work. It’s improved retention, boosted morale and enhanced the patient experience. Our staff’s positivity shines through in how they interact with our community. The awards have given us confidence to keep pushing forward with initiatives that support our team’s growth and happiness. 


Why is it so important to the long-term success of your business? 


A thriving workplace is non-negotiable. A team that feels valued and supported is more likely to stay with us, reducing turnover and building expertise that benefits our patients. It also sets us apart in a competitive field. Prioritising wellbeing ensures we can keep delivering top-quality dental care. 


What stood out from the feedback? Were there any surprises? 


How much our team appreciated the little things. One surprise was how highly they rated our efforts to act on their suggestions. We thought we could improve in that area, but it was heartening to see they already feel heard. It’s a testament to the trust we’ve built together. 


How will you build on the feedback gained to shape your business? 


We will double down on what’s working, keeping communication open and maintaining a supportive culture. We’ll explore ideas our team highlighted, like more professional development opportunities or wellness initiatives. It’s about continuous improvement; we’ll keep asking for input and adapting to ensure our practice remains a place where people love to work and patients love to visit.
